Monday Cellar Night- Jean Foillard Mini Horizontal tasting

Double the Foillard, Double the Fun!
Tonight we’re offering a side by side tasting of two different expressions of the village of Morgon from one of Beuajolais’ true masters, Jean Foillard.
We’ll be opening the new (2022) vintage of both the Morgon ‘Cote de Py’ and the Morgon ‘Cuvee Corcelette’. $35 for two 3 oz pours.

Jean and Agnes Foillard took over his father’s estate in 1980, and quickly made a name for themselves by abandoning chemicals in the vineyard, relying on healthy soils, meticulous sorting, and low intervention winemaking to craft wines that were bright, drinkable and intriguing, but with incredible liveliness, complexity and ageability. An absolute legend for lovers of both natural and classic French wines, Jean was part of the original ‘Gang of four’ producers in beaujolais that spawned the term natural wine and helped put famed importer Kermit Lynch on the map. While both wines possess the trademark silky texture and delicate complexity of all Foillard’s wines, tasting them side by side will hopefully serve to highlight and contrast the famed savory notes and structure of Cote de Py and the more heady and complex floral aromatics of Corcelette.

Sunday Tasting- Chenin Blanc is for dads.

Domaine Tempier, Bandol Rose, France 2022 $30
Continuing our celebration of rose, we’re offering one of the most sought after pink wines in the world. The deceptively complex and ageable mourvedre based wonder Domaine Tempier.
Domaine Tempier is a legendary estate, both for the work of viticulturalist Lucien Peyraud, who was instrumental in restoring the primacy of Mourvedre in the grape growing of Bandol and in creating and maintaining its appellation status, and for the work of his wife Lucie ‘Lulu’ Peyraud whose endless hospitality and sense of adventure made her a beloved figure to wine lovers and gastronomes world wide, as well as one of the most unforgettable figures in Kermit Lynch’s memoir “Adventures on the Wine Route”. Come join us and raise a glass to Lulu and Lucien and to this fantastic enduring estate.
